Meet your coach
Hi, I’m Andrea, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, specializing in women’s health, specifically helping women to ditch the lifetime of yo-yo dieting or fad diets in order to feel better, have more energy, and be more balanced.
First off, thank you for stopping by. This is the first step to beginning your health journey and I’m so proud of you! I would love the opportunity to partner with you and give you the space to explore your health and wellness goals, while also providing the accountability you may be looking for.
Not only am I a health coach, I’m a wife and mom of two sassy, spunky young girls, and three gentle, loyal pups. I also love cooking, visiting local farms and farmer’s markets, gardening, hiking, traveling, and crafting. Before becoming a health coach, I was an elementary school teacher until I discovered my real passion was health. I went on to get my master’s degree in Health Education and Promotion and worked in nutrition research until I had my second child and chose to take a break from my career to stay at home with my kids. When the urge hit to dive back into my career, I knew I needed to truly honor my passion, so I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I received so much more than just my certificate to be a health coach.
Health and wellness have always been a big part of my life, even from a young age. I’ve long been very aware of how the foods I eat affect my body and mind. However, my ideas of health have evolved and changed over the years. I realized it’s not just about what we eat that plays a role in our overall health and well-being. Our health is multidimensional and includes things like our lifestyle, relationships, spirituality, physical activity, creativity, finances, and even our career.
Over the years, I’ve learned the benefits of being present and aware when eating. Using all my senses to truly take in my meal and tuning into how my body feels during and after a meal, have been life-changing for me. I went from being a compulsive dieter because I thought the only thing that mattered was the number on the scale, to being a vegetarian for 15 years, which served me well in my twenties (pre-children), to incorporating local, pasture-raised meats into my whole foods mindset and finally feeling peace when I eat, knowing what matters most is that I’m nourishing my body, mind, and spirit.
For so many years, I stressed about my calorie intake and the number of hours of cardio I did until I realized it was not serving me well and was not good for my mental health. When I stopped obsessing and started truly listening to what my body was telling me, things began to change. I stopped labeling foods as “bad” or “forbidden” and gave myself permission to eat what I wanted as long as I paid close attention to how it made me feel, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
-Hippocrates
The beauty was that when I had permission, those foods I had once labeled as “bad” weren’t as tempting. Once I stopped to listen, it became easier to cut out foods that made me sick and to crave foods that filled my soul and nourished my entire being. This transformation was eye-opening for me.
My sincere hope is that I can help others to discover what it means to be truly nourished. My desire as a health coach is to provide my clients with a safe space to explore their multidimensional health to pave the way for lifelong transformation.
